Almost 200 Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows were included in the DfMA kit for Estella Public School, built as part of the School Infrastructure New South Wales (SINSW) major school building program.
Estella Public School is one of the new public schools built under the program using volumetric Design for Manufacture and Assembly or DfMA.
DfMA is a design and construction process that combines the manufacturing of building components such as wall systems and facades, in a safe, clean and efficient environment with onsite construction assembly. DfMA allows more quality schools to be built in less time, providing greater delivery certainty, with less impact on the environment, local communities and existing school operations.
The Safetyline Jalousie louvre windows included in the DfMA kit of parts for Estella Public School were manufactured in accordance with a standardised design set out by School Infrastructure NSW. Supplied as complete framed and glazed units, the prefabricated windows incorporated 6.38 Laminate safety glass, inbuilt security via the horizontal louvre bearers, and predrilled fixing holes in the frames to provide quick and easy installation into the double storey building modules.
The prefab methodology employed at Safetyline Jalousie ensures the highest standards in a controlled factory environment, with precise, predetermined dimensions to guarantee quality every time.
Other benefits realised by SINSW through this process included less trades on site, and as such, less noise, dust, traffic and disruption, and through the onsite time savings, a significant reduction in construction costs.
