Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Centre opens this month with a foyer unlike any other in the Melbourne CBD. Designed by Lyons Architects, the foyer makes full use of Sapphire’s aluminium anodising finishes, utilising three anodised finishes together to create a modern foyer.
A new finish was developed especially to fulfil the architect’s colour requirements. Matt Blush anodising finish was created to give a subtle pink tone to the aluminium sheet behind the reception counter. This anodised aluminium finish was then complimented with Linished Bright Chrome and Linished Matt Grey.
The aluminium sheets were then installed by Sandringham constructions Pty Ltd. Sapphire not only anodised, but also supplied the actual aluminium sheets in the project’s special anodising grade sheet. It is Australian made. To achieve such an anodised finish, Sapphire Aluminium Industries needs to have a quality base to work with and, unfortunately, a significant amount of the aluminium sheet available in the market today is not to standards required for their coloured anodising finish.
Sapphire Aluminium Industries now carries quality pre- anodised aluminium sheet as an ex stock product, and can supply these aluminium sheets in 1.6mm or 3 mm thickness and in two lengths; 2400mm and 3600mm. All aluminium sheets are standard 1200mm width and can be PE coated for protection if required.
