Steel frames from SBS Group were used to reduce the requirement of structural steel at the Mont Albert Place project in Mont Albert, Victoria.
Designed by ClarkeHopkinsClarke and built by Alliance CG, the project had several challenges – there was a need to reduce structural steel for the top level structures of the apartment and townhouse buildings, and save time on site.
SBS Group worked closely with the construction teams, presenting feasible and practical solutions to support many design challenges.
Hip roof trusses were designed and engineered to span over 12 metres at a very low roof pitch to achieve the architectural objectives for the oversized penthouses, including the load on internal mechanical services.
The suspended facade was successfully detailed and engineered by SBS’ in-house design team, facilitating easier installation.
The staged delivery by SBS allowed the installers to efficiently erect the steel frames in line with the construction program.
SBS supplied a total of 18,689 L/M of steel frames with the work covering an area of 953.57 square metres.
