SBS Group fabricated and supplied a steel framing system for the Pelham Apartments project designed by Ewert Leaf in Armadale, Victoria. SBS’ steel solution was used for the top level wall and roof truss framing of the building.
A key challenge for the builder, Figurehead Construction Pty Ltd was to alleviate cost and program restraints by guaranteeing a seamless installation process for the top level framing structure.
According to Figurehead Construction contract administrator Amir M, 3D modelling and consultant workshops with SBS Group’s engineering department assisted in identifying and mitigating any risks of interfacing lightweight steel with adjoining building components.
The builder was able to save about two weeks on their construction target dates across the full shop drawing, fabrication and installation process, while the steel framing system helped them achieve significant cost savings.
SBS supplied a total of 9,200 L/M of steel framing for the project.
