The Liverpool Catholic Club (also known as LCC Sports Complex Liverpool) is an iconic sports and public skate centre built in 1979 and located at the Hoxton Park precinct of Sydney. The facility includes an Olympic sized ice rink with capacity of 500 spectators, café, restaurants and onsite carpark.
Project background
The project proposed a building extension to provide additional fast food and brasserie-style dining facilities, cinema, an internal children’s playground, function and conference rooms, and back of house facilities with an approximate budget of $50 million. Brought to the project by Danlaid Contracting Sydney, Sika provided flooring solutions to all kitchen and food preparation areas.
Project requirements
Commercial kitchen floors must be resistant in a demanding environment. It was a requirement for the floors to withstand impact from utensils, constant trolley wheeled traffic, chemical attack from food acids and cooking oils as well as thermal shock from hot water spills and washdown. A heavy duty, food grade flooring was required in all newly built kitchens, cool rooms and associated areas.
Sika solution
After considering all options, Kane Constructions and the specifier selected Sikafloor 22N PurCem system. PurCem is a seamless polyurethane/cement-based floor that is resistant to all the above mentioned as well as being fast to install; it is low in VOC and suitable around foodstuffs.
