Project overview
The jewel of Melbourne’s and Victoria’s crown, the mighty MCG – one of the world’s oldest and premier sporting stadiums, boasting what only a handful of stadiums can manage, a capacity to accommodate 100,000 spectators. Home of the 1956 Olympic Games.
MCG in all stands has Sikafloor systems in the main concourses and access ways. The Southern Stand of this complex was in need of surface remediation in the concourses after 15 years of constant use.
Project requirements
Durable, chemical resistant, easy cleanability and maintenance, along with OH&S slip resistant requirements for pedestrian foot traffic concourse areas, over four levels of the grandstand.
Sika solution
Two roll coats of SikaFloor® 264 colour pigmented were installed over previous existing epoxy coatings. To tackle the high volumes of foot traffic during use, 60 grade Aluminium Oxide was incorporated to the top seal coat, to provide up to a P4 slip resistant finish as requested by the client.
