The newly opened National Portrait Gallery in Canberra encompasses all facets of terrazzo. Working in conjunction with architects JPW, Terrazzo Australian Marble manufactured and installed honed internal tiles, shotblast external pavers, 1000m of precast terrazzo wall panelling, San Marco Engineered stone toilet partitions, insitu terrazzo and 3 staircases complete with 2 toned nosing and with the tread and riser in one piece.
This big project was undertaken in a short timeframe, but builders John Holland were pleased with Terrazzo Australian Marble’s ability to make it happen with little on site inconvenience. This project really does show what terrazzo can do and highlight that the uses of terrazzo are only limited by the imagination.
