Wesbeam announces a series of appointments to their Engineering and Design Centre, enabling the company to continue to provide the best technical and design support available to the Australian market.
As you may be aware, Wesbeam’s Technical Manager Stephen Dayus tragically and unexpectedly passed away recently. A great leader and exceptional talent, Stephen had, during his time, built Australia’s leading engineering and design team, which ensured we had exceptional capability, capacity, and resilience.
We now need to use that capability and resilience in our new Engineering and Design Centre structure.
We are pleased to advise the following promotions, which will ensure Wesbeam’s Engineering and Design Centre remains Australia’s best in capability, capacity, innovation and service.
Tom Rickerby – Technical Manager
Tom Rickerby has accepted a promotion from the position of Senior Structural Engineer to the role of Wesbeam’s Technical Manager.
With 15 years’ experience as a qualified structural engineer, Tom has specialised in the design and specification of timber and engineered wood products.
As Technical Manager, Tom will lead Wesbeam’s highly skilled engineering and design teams and has responsibility for all product manufacturing specifications.
Tom will continue to ensure our high-quality Australian made LVL and LVL I-joists meet all relevant product standards and specifications for use in the Australian market.
Tom will represent Wesbeam on technical standards committees and has been nominated to become a director of the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA).
Belinda Cranmer – Design Centre Lead
I am also delighted to welcome back Belinda Cranmer, who will resume her full-time position as Wesbeam's Design Centre Lead after taking time off for maternity leave.
Reporting to Tom, Belinda will manage Design Centre workflows, drive process innovations, work closely with our national sales team, lead our Senior Estimating team here in Australia, in addition to our MiTek Services team based in Vietnam.
Belinda was first employed at Wesbeam in February 2012, and has over 18 years of experience as a senior estimator in the timber industry.
Belinda’s wealth of knowledge and experience ensures strong leadership of the Design Centre team.
Dr Alex Mainey – Lead Design Engineer
In addition, Dr Alex Mainey has been promoted to the new role of Wesbeam’s Lead Design Engineer.
Alex will lead our delivery of market best engineering solutions to residential builders, merchants, and frame & truss manufacturers.
Since graduating with a PhD in structural engineering, Alex has become a leader in the use of the MiTek Sapphire software and in the provision of solutions to builders that reduce the cost and time of construction.
Alex will work closely with the Design Centre team, serve as Wesbeam’s technical expert for the MiTek Sapphire software, and will be responsible for all design principles utilised by our Senior Estimators and our Vietnamese MiTek Services team.
Not only is Alex responsible for the Wesbeam Technical hotline, he is also the first point of call for technical assistance to our customers and sales team nationwide.
Wesbeam’s Engineering and Design Centre
Wesbeam’s leading Design Centre supports the supply of our Australian manufactured LVL and LVL I-joist products. Wesbeam is the home of technical excellence and supply security.
