Concrete versus Hyssil (Weight comparision - Hyssil (RH) - Concrete (LH)

CEO Gary Bertuch said the introduction of the Australian carbon pricing scheme would accelerate the need for Australia’s building materials companies to reduce embodied energy ratings for their products.

“Bricks and cement-based products in particular will come under pressure,” Bertuch said.

“Hyssil and the CSIRO are at the forefront of development of sustainable building products for global markets using Geopolymer technology, which substitutes fly ash for ordinary Portland cement.”

Hyssil is seeking licensees in Australia and New Zealand to manufacture products based on the technology. It is also interested to talk to potential equity partners.

“Our target markets are Australia, New Zealand, US, Europe, China, South-East Asia and the Middle East.

“Ideally, we want to attract a development partner or partners that will contribute development capital and can provide access to large-scale manufacturing facilities.

“They might also be able to bring to the table good marketing competence and well-developed distribution networks that offer the prospect of efficient introduction of the technologies to our target global markets.”
