The Australian Institute of Architects, Queensland Chapter President’s Honours Dinner serves as a moment to reflect on the profession’s achievements, acknowledge the contributions of its members, and inspire the next generation of architects to continue striving for excellence.
The Australian Institute of Architects, Queensland Chapter President’s Honours Dinner will include a heartfelt farewell to Russell Hall, recognising his leadership as Chapter President, and an official welcome to Caroline Stalker as the incoming Chapter President. This ceremonial transition exemplifies the continuity and dynamism of leadership within the Institute.

Queensland Institute of Architects (QIA) Medallion
The QIA Medallion is awarded to the most outstanding Master of Architecture graduate from a Queensland university, recognising exceptional academic performance and design excellence. The 2024 recipients are:
- Emily Long, Griffith University.
- Joel Burrows, Queensland University of Technology.
- Alisha Mandla, University of Queensland.
- Kieren Dolores, Bond University.
Philip Y. Bisset Planning (Architecture) Scholarship
This scholarship supports graduates pursuing further studies or research in planning and urban design, promoting the integration of architectural and planning disciplines. The 2024 Bisset Scholarship recipients, Lucinda O’Neill and Maitri Gohel, will travel internationally to explore pressing issues such as sustainability, affordability, and energy efficiency, bringing invaluable insights back to Queensland’s architectural community.
Dunbar Fellowship
The Dunbar Fellowship provides emerging architects with opportunities for professional development, encouraging innovative practice and leadership within the architectural sector.
The 2024 Dunbar Fellow, Clare Kennedy, Director of Brisbane-based practice Five Mile Radius, will utilise the Fellowship to conduct pioneering research into circular design practices, an area of critical importance to the profession and beyond.
Life Fellowship and Fellowship
Elevation to Life Fellowship and Fellowship within the Australian Institute of Architects is conferred upon architects who have made significant contributions to the profession beyond standard practice.
This includes contributions in areas such as education, literature, and public service. Life Fellows, in particular, have demonstrated outstanding dedication and excellence in advancing the architectural profession.
President’s Prize
Awarded at the discretion of the Chapter President, the President’s Prize recognises individuals or organisations that have provided extraordinary support or made substantial contributions to the architectural profession.
The recipients of the 2024 President’s Prize will be announced at the President’s Honours Dinner on 21 February.
These honours not only celebrate individual achievements but also reflect the collective commitment to excellence, ethical practice, and lifelong learning that underpin the architectural profession.
Architecture plays a pivotal role in shaping communities and enriching lives. As Queensland prepares for transformative opportunities, including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, architects will be at the forefront of designing a sustainable and inclusive future.
