B&D Garage Doors and Openers provided a custom roller door solution for the pit lane and various service areas at The Bend Motorsport Park in Tailem Bend, South Australia.
Australia’s premier motorsports destination, The Bend Motorsport Park is a state-of-the-art motor racing facility located 100 kilometres south-east of Adelaide. Construction work began on the facility in 2016 with the main motor racing circuit completed in April 2018, followed by additional precincts opening in 2019.
B&D Group was engaged to supply and install 83 rolling shutter doors at the facility, with the doors capable of being remotely operated from a central location. There were installation issues on the southern side of the Welcome Centre, caused by a series of cable trays running across each opening within close proximity to the header area. Each opening was meant to house the roller door, but the cable trays didn’t allow the space required for the door.
Modifying the precast panel structure, which was formed with cut-outs in set locations to mount both trays and doors, was not an option due to the high cost factor.
Working closely with the electrical contractor and onsite management, B&D Group decided that a minor manual adjustment of the cable trays already in-situ coupled with amending the specification to an alternative B&D roller door (R2W Traditional Wideline) would allow them to complete the installation.
Since the R2W roller door had a smaller diameter and a different profile, they were able to fit the door in the opening, eliminating the need for costly alterations while maintaining maximum clearance.
The B&D Control-A-Door Power Drive opener was a smart choice for this project, given the ability to integrate smart phone control for each of the openings in the future.
