JAPAN’s Yanmar Construction Equipment has released, Vio35-5, a 3.5t excavator to the Australian market. The first 3t Yanmar excavators with zero tail swing were released to Australia in February 1996. The enhancements on the Vio35-5 represent an accumulation of operator experience and feedback. The main upgrade items are: a new, larger Yanmar 3TNV88 engine that develops 20.9 kW @ 2,300 rpm; digging depth has increased from 3,150 mm to 3,280 mm; the floor plate area has increased for operator leg comfort; fuel tank has increased from 36 litres to 42 litres; rubber and steel tracks are now interchangeable without changing the idler sprockets; factory air conditioning is available from November 2006; the colour scheme has changed in line with the other Vio45-5 and Vio55-5 models.
An optional counter weight is available for customers who may be operating with large attachments. The cab/steel operating weight is 3,770 kg, max digging height is 5.3m, max digging force (bucket) is 2,800 kgf and travel speed is 2.7 to 4.6 kph. Standard on this model is a Rops/Fops cabin, pattern change control from ISO, a Yanmar hydraulic (quick) coupler and spring plate guards covering the cylinder rods on the boom, arm and bucket cylinders. There has also been an improvement in hydraulic oil heat balance, tractive force has increased by 7 per cent, excavator swing power has increased by 15 per cent and both bucket operation and travelling are now possible simultaneously. Yanmar products are distributed through BT Equipment .
