JAPAN’s Sumitomo Construction Machinery & Manufacturing Company has just released a 45t class excavator to the Australlian market. Model SH450LDH-3B weighs in at 46,500 kg, has a long undercarriage, is available with a Sumo Rops/Fops canopy, has a cat walk or bump guards and is painted in the new distinctive Sumitomo Livery. Operator comfort has been improved and so has the servicing since there is now ground access to the engine and hydraulic filters. The excavator features a new Isuzu six-cylinder Tier 3 engine with common rail and pressurised fuel injection system that develops 270 kW at 1,950 rpm. The hydraulic pumps are 2 x 360 litres/min and pilot pump maximum oil flow is 30 litres/min. Travel speed is 3.1 to 5.3 km/h and bucket digging force (ISO6015) with auto power up is 270 kN.
