DFO South Wharf, a vibrant multi-level outlet centre on the Yarra River near Docklands, serves over 5.8 million visitors annually. With more than 145 retail stores, DFO South Wharf required an upgraded, efficient entry solution to maintain its high standard of accessibility, security, and reliability.
In collaboration with Vicinity Centres, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems provided a customised door upgrade solution by installing two ASSA ABLOY SL521 telescopic sliding door operators at DFO South Wharf’s main entry, located at Convention Centre Place, Victoria. The project was driven by the need to replace the centre’s aging operators that had reached the end of their life cycle.
The ASSA ABLOY SL521 telescopic sliding door operators were selected for their adaptability, durability, and compliance with Vicinity Centres’ national specifications for automatic doors. With programmable settings for opening and closing speeds, as well as customisable open duration, the SL521 provides both flexibility and high-performance functionality. Installed on an incline to align perfectly with the high-end facade and architectural features, these doors not only meet functional needs but also elevate the centre’s premium aesthetic.

Tailored design: The doors were custom-fitted and designed to suit the centre’s architectural requirements, installed on an incline to match the high-end façade of DFO South Wharf.
Automation and control: The doors are controlled by motion sensors on both sides during business hours for seamless customer flow. After hours, the doors can be accessed through swipe-card entry or a green pushbutton for enhanced security.
Flexible configuration: The SL521 is capable of supporting single or bi-parting doors with two or four leaves respectively, providing a robust and sustainable entrance solution.
The installation of the SL521 telescopic sliding door operators has successfully brought DFO South Wharf’s entry in line with Vicinity Centres’ national specifications.
